Paris Public Library Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 18, 2016 <br />Opening: <br />The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at 4:00 p.m. <br />Present: <br />Board members present were Fran Neeley, Connie Dodd, Denise Kornegay, Rebecca Umphrey, Carol James, <br />and director Priscilla McAnally. Mike Pendleton and Daisy Harvill were absent. <br />Approval of Minutes <br />The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as presented. <br />II. New Business: <br />A. Orphan Train Program. <br />A flyer and letter asking the library to host the program was discussed. The cost for this <br />program is $1,000, so the board did not approve it due to the cost to the library. <br />B. Youth Convention in July. <br />The Library has been asked to post a flyer for the Youth Convention. The board approved <br />posting the flyer in the foyer. <br />III. Old Business: <br />A. Danny Santos (Songwriting workshop). <br />The cost of the one -hour workshop is $300 -$400. Due to the cost, the board did not approve it. <br />IV. Presentations <br />A. Budget Report. <br />Insurance costs are over the budgeted amount by $128.36. This cost is out of the control of the <br />library. The materials budget has $14,000 left which will easily be spent by the end of the fiscal <br />year. <br />B. Statistical Report. <br />Circulation is below last year, but visits are up. Circulation decreased 2.19 %, and visits <br />increased by 4.35 %. <br />V. Friends of the Library: <br />No report from the Friends this month. <br />VI. Director's Remarks <br />Ideal Contracting has approached the library about having a workshop on filing insurance claims. <br />The library will host Impande Y Africa dance troupe on June 14`x'. They will perform at Bywaters <br />Park as part of the library's Summer Reading programs.
