REGULAR MEETING MINUTES <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />WEDNESDAY June 8, 2016 <br />4:00 P.M. <br />Present: <br />Chair Ruth Ann Alsobrook <br />Linda Knox <br />Pat Conrad <br />Sarah Barbee <br />Chris Dux <br />Cindy Alcorn <br />City Staff: <br />Cheri Bedford, HPO <br />Robert Talley, Code Enforcement <br />1. Call meeting to order at 4:02 p.m. Commissioner <br />Absent: <br />Council Liaison Matt Frierson <br />Phillip Peeples <br />Guest: <br />Jo Ann McGlasson <br />2. A motion was made to approve the meeting minutes of the June 8, 2016 meeting by Chris Dux, seconded by Sarah <br />Barbee, Motion Carried 6 -0 <br />3. Discussion and possible action on the 1048 S. Church Street: <br />Mrs. Mc Glasson explained that she was asked to submit a certificate of appropriateness for the paint <br />color of her house that was painted in 2015. She explained that before she panted the house that she <br />came to the city of Paris and talked to someone in engineering who told her that she could paint her <br />house as long as she goes back with the existing colors. She explained that the paint was faded, and it <br />needed repair, and the house had been painted numerous colors in the past. She did pick some colors, <br />and went with it and felt misdirected by staff. Commissioner Dux explained to the Mrs. Mc Glasson that <br />it is the desire that the commission and Mrs. Mc Glasson come to an equitable solution to get it into <br />compliance. Mrs. Mc Glasson asked if there is a grant and wanted to be directed after more discussion <br />on colors in the historic palate. After some discussion on how to get in compliance, Mrs. Mc Glasson <br />left before there was a commission decision. <br />Action taken: No Motion made. <br />Commissioner Dux gave direction for the HPO and Code enforcement to work with Mrs. Mc <br />Glasson. He recommended the denial of the existing paint colors on the house, and to work with <br />Mrs. Mc Glasson for 6 months without any violations notices from code enforcement to work <br />with her to get the trim painted a historic color and work with her for the body of the house after <br />the trim is painted. He requested the HPO to bring a report back to Commission in the next <br />month's meeting. <br />4. Commissioner Dux has suggested we work with the taxing entity to make sure banks, realtors, <br />potential land owners know the boundaries of the historic district. <br />Historic Preservation officer presented a GIS draft application map with the 2005 Historic <br />Resource that would help significantly with this goal. <br />5.
