Paris Public Library Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 17, 2016 <br />Opening: <br />The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at 4:02prn by Fran <br />Neeley. <br />Attendance: <br />Board members in attendance were Fran Neeley, Connie Dodd, Rebecca Umphrey, Daisy Harvill, <br />Michelle Cowling, Denise Kornegay, and director Priscilla McAnally. Carol James was absent. <br />Approval of Minutes: <br />The minutes of the July meeting were unanimously approved as corrected. <br />I. New Business: <br />Introduction of new board member, Michelle Cowling. She has a long history of <br />involvement in libraries and will be an asset to the Board. <br />Building repair. Roof repair is finished, but a leak the front door was to be fixed <br />immediately. An air conditioner had to be replaced at the cost of $9,300. <br />Operations plan for 2017. Priscilla presented a list of goals for the library in the areas of <br />collection development, accessibility, and art restoration. Items that are ongoing, that have <br />been completed, and are still to be done were noted on the list. She also had a list of ten <br />completed projects from the past few years. The Board then brainstormed a list of other <br />possible projects for the library's long -range plan. <br />Landscaping, especially in the front of the library <br />Upgrade the basement <br />Restore Davy Crockett and Paris Fire artwork <br />Disaster and emergency plans <br />Additional parking space <br />II. Old Business: <br />None <br />III. Presentations <br />a. Budget Report. Expenditures are on target for this year with $1,754 left in the <br />materials budget. The 2016 -2017 budget is being developed and will be approved <br />by the City Council soon. <br />b. Statistical Report. Slight decreases again this month in Circulation (- 8.60 %) and <br />Visits (- 7.04 %). Increases were in juvenile book circulation, downloadable audios, <br />reserves, Interlibrary Loans, and Freegal Music downloads and streaming. <br />IV. Friends of the Library: <br />No report <br />
