Item No. 7 <br />memorandum <br />TO: City Council <br />John Godwin, City Manager <br />FROM: Gene Anderson, Finance Director <br />SUBJECT: FUNDING FOR NON - PROFIT AGENCIES <br />DATE: 9 -20 -2016 <br />BACKGROUND: The City of Paris has traditionally partially funded some non -profit agencies <br />whose services either overlap City services or provide services less expensively than the City <br />could provide those services. Funding requests are made during the budget process with the <br />agencies filling out an application, providing information on the services performed, and <br />providing requested financial information. Agencies funded in the City budget must sign an <br />agreement with the City to provide those funded services. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: The recently adopted 2016 -17 City budget provided funding for the <br />following non -profit agencies: <br />1. Lamar County Historical Society $5,000 <br />2. New Hope Center of Paris <br />$10,000 <br />3. Children's Advocacy Center <br />$12,500 <br />4. E Tx Council on Alcohol/Drugs <br />$4,500 <br />5. CASA for Kids <br />$2,500 <br />6. Lamar Co. Human Res. Council <br />$12,000 <br />7. Safe -T Shelter Agencies <br />$5,000 <br />8. NE Texas Trail Coalition <br />$8,000 <br />Total <br />$59,500 <br />The staff is requesting that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute agreements <br />with the non -profit agencies listed above to perform services for the City. . <br />BUDGET: Money for the above listed agencies is provided in the City's 2016 -17 budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Motion to authorize the City Manager to execute agreements with non- <br />profit agencies to perform services for the City. <br />
