<br />ORDINANCE NO. 2000-016 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING <br />THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY <br />REVISING SUBSECTION (b) OF SECTION 2-35 OF SAID CODE; <br />REVISING THE STATE LAW REFERENCE THEREIN; REVISING THE <br />E}'FECTIVE DATE FOR ELIGIBILITY; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; REPEALING ALL <br />ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; <br />AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 11th day of <br />October, 1999, in Ordinance No. 99-075, amend Sec. 2-35 (b) of the Code of Ordinances of the <br />City of Paris by revising the retirement eligibility requirements; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has coordinated with officials from the Texas Municipal Retirement <br />System (TMRS) regarding further appropriate changes; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, City Council deems it appropriate to adopt an ordinance making those <br />changes; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are <br />hereby found and declared to be true and correct. <br /> <br />Section 2. That subsection (b) of Sec. 2-35 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of <br />Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended so that such shall read as follows: <br /> <br />"Sec. 2-35. Optional benefit package - Generally. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />"(b) Eligibility for service retirement. Any member shall be eligible for <br />service retirement at any age who has completed twenty (20) years of creditable <br />service with this City or who has attained the age of sixty (60) years and has <br />completed at least ten (10) years of creditable service with participating <br />municipalities which have adopted the plan provisions of this section, or who has <br />become eligible for service retirement under any other applicable provision of <br />Subtitle G of Title 8, Texas Government Code." <br />
