Item No. 15 <br />memorandum <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />FROM: John Godwin, City Manager <br />SUBJECT: SURPLUS FIRE TRAILER <br />DATE: February 2, 2017 <br />BACKGROUND: In 2016 Hopkins County gave our fire department a used 24 -foot trailer they <br />had used for Haz Mat purposes. We are converting it into use for a larger dive team trailer. As a <br />result, our old 2005 enclosed dive trailer is out of date and is no longer needed. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: The City of Sulphur Springs has asked for our old trailer for use as a <br />clown trailer for their fire prevention program. In order to gift this item to Sulphur Springs, the <br />city council needs to declare the old trailer surplus fire equipment, and authorize the city <br />manager to complete a transfer to another fire department for firefighting, rescue, or fire <br />prevention purposes. <br />BUDGET: NA. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Declare old trailer surplus equipment, and authorize the city manager <br />to transfer it to the Sulphur Springs Fire Department <br />
