MINUTES <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />MONDAY NOVEMBER 18, 2013 <br />4:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission was called to order at 4:05 p.m. by Chair <br />Ben Vaughan. <br />A. The following commissioners were present: Chair Ben Vaughan, Nancy <br />Anderson, David Stewart, Vice Chair Douglas Cox, Beatrice Ardila <br />B. Lauri Redus was absent and 1 position is vacant. <br />C. Also present: Joey Sleeper, Historic Preservation Officer; Melissa Wickersham <br />(applicant); Richard Hunt (contractor) <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings (October 28 and November 4, 2013). <br />Motion was made by Vice Chair Cox and seconded by Commissioner Anderson to approve <br />the minutes as written. The motion carried 5-0. <br />3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness revision: <br />Fac,ade renovation and sign, Creative Candy Designs & Emporium, 122 Lamar <br />Avenue, Melissa Wickersham and Janet Grammer <br />Chair Vaughan introduced the item and called the applicant, Melissa Wickersham, and <br />Richard Hunt, contractor. Mr. Hunt explained that he had removed the existing fagade <br />materials and found that none of the original materials were present. Instead, he found <br />wood framing and concrete block. He further explained that the proposed design changes <br />were necessary due to existing conditions which had been uncovered. Mr. Sleeper <br />explained that there was an existing exit door from the adjacent building which could not <br />be obstructed. After further discussion, a motion to approve the revision as submitted was <br />made by Vice Chair Cox and seconded by Commissioner Anderson. The motion carried <br />5 -0. <br />4. Future Agenda Items. <br />Mr. Sleeper explained that the meetings scheduled in December would need to be rescheduled <br />due to holidays. Meetings were rescheduled to the first and third Wednesdays of December, <br />meaning December 4th and December 18`h, 2013. The meetings will be held at 4: 00 pm in the <br />City Council Chambers at 107 E. Kaufman St. <br />5. Adjournment. <br />With no other matters to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner <br />Anderson and seconded by Commissioner Stewart. The motion carried 5 -0. <br />
