Paris Public Library Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />April 17, 2013 <br />Opening: <br />The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at 4:00 pm. <br />Present: <br />Board members present were Hilda Mallory, Alice Woodard, Pat Books, Ann Norment, Fran Neeley, <br />Linda Vandiver, Deborah Hatley, and Director, Priscilla McAnally. <br />Approval of Minutes <br />The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as presented <br />II. New Business: <br />The Director presented a new policy for consideration, "Charging Electronic Equipment <br />Policy," to prohibit the use the library's electrical outlets for charging personal equipment, <br />including cell phones, electric vehicles, tablets, and laptops. Motion was made by Hilda <br />Mallory, seconded by Ann Norment, and unanimously approved by the Board to adopt the <br />policy, that it be posted in the library and added to official policy. <br />III. Old Business: <br />No old business was presented for discussion <br />IV. Presentations <br />a. Budget Report: No unusual <br />b. Statistical Report: Circulation and visits were down <br />V. Friends of the Library: No report given <br />VI. Director's Remarks: <br />Estimate to replace windows put into the budget for next year. It is anticipated to cost <br />about $9,000 for double -paned windows. Received estimates from Taylor Glass and <br />Reddell Glass. <br />The Director will explore using social media as a marketing tool, trying Twitter to see if it <br />can be used for promoting the library. <br />Training was held for staff regarding used of e- Readers, Kindle, Nook, and iPad devices. <br />Staff will start assisting patrons individually on devices, possibly during the summer. <br />Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 4:30 p.m. <br />Submitted by <br />Alice Woodard <br />
