Paris Public Library Advisory Board
April 18, 2012
The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met Wednesday, April 18, 2012, in the Library Gallery with
Chairman Linda Vandiver presiding. In addition to all board members, Library Director Priscilla McAnally was
in attendance.
Minutes from the previous meeting were approved as printed.
The Board examined the updated "Request for Reconsideration of Library Materials" policy and request form
and approved them.
Budget and statistical reports were presented. The budget is on track with 50% of it expended in the first 6
months of the fiscal year.
The new public access computer tables have been installed. The young adult collections of fiction, mystery, and
science fiction have been separated out from the adult collection and are now shelved in the section close to the
adult mysteries. The summer reading program starts June 1 at 11 a.m. and will be held on Tuesdays and
Fridays.
The Director will ask for some increases in the 2013 budget. Due to the loss of Loan Star Library funds, postage
costs will increase. Utility prices are increasing necessitating increases in those line items. The materials
collection is aging and some replacement is needed, so an additional $20,000 in the materials line item will be
requested. Needed building and grounds repairs will increase that line item by $4,000. An increase in equipment
lease and rental is requested as the public copier is quite old and may need to be replaced. Total budget request
increase is $29,950.
There being no further business on the agenda, the meeting was adjourned at 4:35 p.m.
Submitted by,
Debbie Anderson, Secretary
