Paris Public Library Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
October 17, 2012
Opening:
The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at
4:05 p.m. on October 19, 2012, in the Library Gallery by Linda Vandiver, Library Chair.
Present:
Pat Books, Linda Vandiver, Alice Woodard, Ann Norment, Fran Neeley, Deborah
Hatley, and Library Director Priscilla McAnally. Also attending were Friends of the
Library Co -Chair Amanda Green; Tracy Hoffart, Children's Librarian, and John Godwin,
City Manager.
I. Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as distributed.
II. New Business
A. Tracy Hoffart, Children's Librarian, presented a summary of her duties:
coordinating children's programs, field trips, story times, hosting children's groups
(presently preparing for 208 Head Start students), advertising and marketing children's
programs, preparing flyers, decorating for the programs, customer service, shelving and
other duties as required.
B. In discussion of Sydney Young's review of Toni Morrison's book, the Board
agreed it was an excellent review, with ten attending. It was suggested that she be asked
to present another book in January, with the Friends possibly providing lunch. All
agreed.
III. Old Business
A. Strategic Plan
The Director distributed the revised plan, which she and the City Manager
had worked out, reflecting a revised format. He suggested in the plan the
possibility of relocating the genealogical library to the Library premises, and
the Director addressed remodeling and using the basement for additional
space.
B. Book Drop
The Board agreed the refurbished red book drop is tasteful and in keeping
with the Historical District atmosphere.
