Paris Public Library Advisory Board
November 17, 2010
Minutes
The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met at 4 p.m. in the Library Gallery, November 17, 2010. Chairman
Bill Kennedy called the meeting to order. Those in attendance were Library Director Priscilla McAnally,
Friends of the Library Co -Chair Amanda Green, and Board Members Deborah Hatley, Linda Vandiver, Debbie
Anderson, and Hilda Mallory.
The October minutes were approved with one correction. The number of meetings that a board member may
miss is 25% instead of 75 %.
The Friends agreed to pay $25 per session for a Career Information Workshop to be coordinated and led by
Chris Coker. The workshop will include 1 -hour sessions on resume, application, pre - interview, and post -
interview helps. If there is no interest in the first session, subsequent sessions will not be held. Chris is
interested in developing an Academic in Residence position to be funded by grants. The Board took no action
on that issue.
The Director received a request from an individual to post a flier on the library bulletin board regarding a
"profiling game." The Board felt there was not enough available information and turned down the request.
Board members submitted names for consideration to fill the vacant Advisory Board seat. The Director will
contact those people and have them submit applications if they are interested in serving.
Circulation was down from October of last year as were library visits. Memorial donations were up.,
The Friends have a commitment from Kathleen Kent to speak at the luncheon in April. Further details are to be
worked out. They are helping to pay for new library cards. Their fund currently stands at almost $15,000.
Due to requests from patrons, the library will host the second annual library chili cook -off November 18. The
Friends have volunteered to provide prizes which the Director will select.
There being no further business on the agenda, the meeting was adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
Submitted by
Debbie Anderson, Secretary
