MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br />March 22, 2006 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday, March 22, <br />2006, at 4:00 PM in City Hall Council Chambers Meeting Room. The following Board <br />members were present: Jackie Alsobrook, Debbie Anderson, Sarah Gambill, Deborah <br />Hatley, Bill Kennedy, Audrey Lakes, Fran Neeley and Jake Street. Also attending were <br />Priscilla McAnally, Library Director and Amanda Green, Friends of the Library <br />president. Community member Archie Holland attended to observe the meeting. <br />The minutes from the February meeting were approved. <br />The budget report was favorable. Expenditures for the first six months of the fiscal year <br />are at 45% of allotted budget. <br />Recommendations for Board vacancy positions were discussed. Several names were <br />submitted for consideration as replacements for outgoing member Carl Lucas as well as <br />upcoming vacancies due to term expirations in the next few months. A recommendation <br />to accept Eddie Pool to serve as a replacement member effective in May was made. <br />Ms. McAnally will work on a Volunteer Application and policy. Background checks will <br />be completed on any volunteer who would be working directly with children. <br />Ideas pertaining to a retaining wall for the front lawn of the library were discussed. Ms. <br />McAnally will pursue information related to this project and accompanying landscaping <br />next week. Money for the project will be taken from the buildings and grounds section of <br />the budget. Approximately $9,000 may be used for completion of the project. <br />A $5,000 donation was left to the library to be used as it chooses from the estate of Mary <br />Osborne Steel. <br />February circulation was down 16% from the same month of 2005. Library visits were <br />down 17 %. 128 new library cards were issued. <br />Memorial donations for February were $425. <br />
