MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD April 20, 2006 The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday, April 20, 2006, at 4:00 PM in the library. The following board members were present: Debbie Anderson, Sarah Gambill, Deborah Hatley, Bill Kennedy, Audrey Lakes and Fran Neeley. Also attending were Priscilla McAnally, Library Director and Amanda Green, Friends of the Library president. The minutes from the March meeting were approved. The budget report was favorable. Pending City Council approval, Eddie Pool will serve as a new Library Advisory Board member beginning in May. Term expiration for current members Jackie Alsobrook and Sarah Gambill will be in June. March circulation was down 9.6% from the same month of 2005, and library visits were down 4 %. A total of 224 new items were added to the collection in March. 124 new library cards were issued. Memorial donations for March were $480. There were 8 Children's programs with 70 children and 59 adults attending. Friends of the Library president Amanda Green reported that there are 80 reservations for the April 24 Spring Luncheon. $80 -$150 is continuing to be collected weekly from book sales in the library lobby. Work to organize the Reach Out and Read program is ongoing. New part -time employee and former library volunteer Tonya Herman, joined the staff this month. Ms. Herman will work with Children's Librarian Emily Kirkman on the Thursday program for 3- to 5- year -old children. Mrs. Kirkman and library employee Lee Igo, will attend the Texas Library Association annual conference in Houston, Texas on April 25. New furniture purchased for the library should arrive by the middle of May. The Friends of the Library group will purchase new chairs to be used by patrons in the library.
