Paris Public Library Advisory Board <br />Minutes of the Regular Meeting <br />September 20, 2006 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday afternoon, <br />September 20, 2006, at 4 o'clock in the Library Gallery. Chairman Bill Kennedy called <br />the meeting to order. Other members in attendance were Jackie Alsobrook, Deborah <br />Hatley, Hilda Mallory, Eddie Poole, Audrey Lakes, Fran Neeley, and Jake Street. Also in <br />attendance were Priscilla McAnally, Library Director, and Amanda Green, Friends of the <br />Library President. <br />Fran Neeley made the motion to accept the August minutes, seconded by Eddie Poole. <br />Motion carried. <br />The board viewed sample library cards to be issued to new patrons and as replacements <br />for lost library cards. Ms. McAnally has ordered five thousand cards for library use. <br />Ms. McAnally distributed the August budget report and statistical reports. All monies <br />allotted to the materials budget are expected to be expended by the end of the fiscal year <br />on October 1, 2006. August circulation was 17,715. No data for comparison to <br />circulation from August of last year was available. Library visits were up 1.1 %. There <br />were 278 new items for August. No information on memorial gifts was available. There <br />were no children's programs for the month of August. Ms. McAnally is continuing the <br />process of refining the audio /video collection and will begin work with the fiction and <br />then non - fiction collections. Emily Kirkman, children's librarian, will retire on October <br />31, 2006. <br />Dr. Green reported for the Friends that postcards advertising the fall luncheon will be <br />mailed soon. A sample was distributed. Star - Telegram Columnist Dave Lieber will be <br />the guest speaker on October 28 at the Paris Golf & Country Club. Sample pictures of <br />memorial plaques were distributed for discussion. <br />A memorial book was selected by Ms. McAnally to honor former Board member Walter <br />Williams. A notice was mailed to Mr. William's family. Lone Star Grant for $4,013 was <br />received.
