Paris Public Library Advisory Board
Minutes of the Regular Meeting
June 20, 2007
The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday afternoon, June 20, 2007, at 4
o'clock at the library. Chairman Bill Kennedy called the meeting to order. Other members in attendance were
Deborah Hatley, Audrey Lakes, Debbie Anderson, Eddie Poole, Hilda Mallory, Jake Street, and Fran Neeley.
Also in attendance was Priscilla McAnally, Library Director.
The minutes of the May meeting were approved with the following corrections:
• Deborah Hatley was added to the list of those present at the meeting
• "of the budget" was omitted from paragraph three pertaining to the replacement of the a/c unit
Board members with terms expiring in July are Bill Kennedy, Eddie Poole, and Jake Street. Bill and Eddie have
agreed to serve second terms. Eddie Poole made a motion to recommend Linda Vandiver for the board position
currently held by Jake Street. Debbie Anderson seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Billy Book has been repaired and is ready to go. Billy's alter ego (Bill Kennedy) is ready to make appearances
with Billy.
The proposed library budget is basically the same as last year's with a reclassification for the director position
and changing a part -time position to a full-time one. $2500 has been added to the minor apparatus line item for
telephone replacement. $1000 has been added to utilities — electricity. Maintenance — building and grounds has
been dropped by $5000 and office supplies by $500.
There were no unusual expenditures in the budget report for May. The statistical report reflected increases over
the same period in 2006 in both library visits and circulation. Increases were also recorded in new library cards,
programs and program attendance, and interlibrary loans.
The Friends of the Library luncheon is scheduled for October S. The Friends are still taking in $60 to $100 a
month on the book sales. The organization has changed its leadership structure from a president to co- chairmen.
There being no further business, the chairman adjourned the meeting at 4 :30 p.m.
Debbie Anderson, Secretary
