Paris Public Library Advisory Board
Minutes of the Regular Meeting
August 15, 2107
The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday afternoon, August 15, 2007, at 4
o'clock at the library. Chairman Bill Kennedy called the meeting to order. Other members in attendance were
Deborah Hatley, Debbie Anderson, Hilda Mallory, Fran Neeley, Linda Vandiver, Eddie Poole, and Jackie
Alsobrook. Also in attendance were Library Director Priscilla McAnally and Friends of the Library Co-
Chairman Amanda Green.
The minutes of the July meeting were approved as printed. The June 2007 minutes were corrected to reflect the
correct date of the June meeting — June 20.
Fran Neeley nominated Debbie Anderson as the NETLS lay representative. Eddie Poole made the motion
seconded by Linda Vandiver to accept her. Fran nominated Linda Vandiver as the alternate representative
seconded by Deborah Hatley.
The board absentee policy has been an addendum to the bylaws since its passage in 2000. The board agreed to
add this policy to the body of the bylaws.
At this point, the proposed library budget is the same as last year's. The council still has budget workshops to
go through, so that could change.
The statistical report reflected a decrease in circulation over July of 2006, but an increase in library visits. New
library cards are up as well as volunteer hours, programs, new items, memorials, and interlibrary loans.
Amanda Green gave the Friends of the Library report. The October luncheon is being planned. A newsletter
will go out in December. The Friends organization has volunteered to help buy disposable cameras for a
children's project. The co- chairmen plan to begin alternating months on Library Advisory Board attendance.
The library director has been selected to work on the strategic business plan for the city. This will help in
preparation of the library long range plan.
There being no further business, the chairman adjourned the meeting at 4:20 p.m.
A-txl -,, )
Debbie Anderson, Secretary
