Paris Public Library Advisory Board}
Minutes of the Regular Meeting
October 17, 2007'
f°a Ongg "fie 3S
The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday afternoon,
October 17, 2007 at 4 o'clock at the library. Chairman Bill Kennedy called the meeting
to order. Other members in attendance were Audrey Lakes, Deborah Hatley, Hilda
Mallory, Eddie Poole, Linda Vandiver, and Jackie Alsobrook. Also in attendance was
Library Director Priscilla McAnally.
The minutes of the September meeting were approved as printed.
The library director presented the Library component of the City of Paris Strategic Plan.
She will have long rang plans by the next meeting. She also discussed the Library
marketing plan. Copies of the "Book Page" will be available at 2e Street Cafe and a
new portable display will be purchased.
There was no budget report as the fiscal year was just closed out at the end of September.
The library statistics were discussed. There was a significant decrease from the same
period last year.
The Friends will hold a book signing for June Proctor on November 3.
The new furniture has arrived for the front area and the carpet is ready to be laid. The
plan is to install the carpet the week before Christmas. The Library will be closed during
the time the carpet is laid.
The Lone Star Library grant in the amount of $8,636 has been approved. Some possible
uses for this money are: (1) printing the art brochures, (2) Internet service for the year
(approximately $720.00), and (3) travel to both Public Library Association and Texas
Library Association meetings. This will leave additional money from the grant which
will be available for other expenditures.
There was additional discussion on increasing library hours. Since this will entail an
increase in staff, it will likely not happen this year.
The director reported that the YWCA has plans to renovate their building next door.
There being no further business, the chairman adjourned the meeting at 4:30 and the
board toured the library.
Linda Vandiver for
Debbie Anderson, Secretary
