PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES
JANUARY 16, 2008
The Advisory Board of the Paris Public Library met Wednesday afternoon, January 16, 2008, at 4 o'clock in the
Library Gallery. In attendance were Library Director Priscilla McAnally and Board Members Hilda Mallory,
Deborah Hatley, Debbie Anderson, Jackie Alsobrook, Audrey Lakes, and Linda Vandiver. In the absences of
the chairman and vice - chairman, Secretary Debbie Anderson chaired the meeting.
It was noted that minutes from the previous meeting were not taken due to the absences of both the secretary
and alternate. The Director filed for approval an explanation of the circumstances. This was approved on a
motion by Hilda Mallory and second by Jackie Alsobrook.
The Director distributed copies of a proposed Community Information Policy and a model Patron Services
Policy. Hilda Mallory made a motion seconded by Jackie Alsobrook that the Community Information Policy be
accepted pending its legal approval by the City Attorney. Motion carried. Board members are to study the
model Patron Services Policy for possible action at the next meeting.
There were no unusual expenditures in the December budget. The December statistical report showed
significant decreases, but these are due to the fact that the library was closed for a week for carpet installation
and painting.
Friends of the Library Co -Chair Amanda Green sent a report from the Friends. The newsletter has been mailed,
the spring luncheon is scheduled for April 24, plans for a pajama reading time and a camera project for the
children are in the works. Book sales are averaging $60 weekly.
The Director reported that plans are being made to secure the area around the exterior a/c units to prevent
vandalism and cut off access to the roof of the library. Jackie Alsobrook made the suggestion that some type of
scooters /walkers be made available for those with limited mobility.
There being no further business on the agenda, the meeting was adjourned.
Submitted by &&-& d khw" /J $
Debbie Anderson, Secretary
