Received
Paris Public Library Advisory Board
Regular Meeting Minutes
16 April 2008 City of Paris
cityIIc
The Advisory Board of the Paris Public Library held its regular monthly meeting Wednesday a ernoon, April
16, 2008, at 4 p.m. in the library gallery. Chairman Bill Kennedy called the meeting to order. Others in
attendance were Deborah Hatley, Linda Vandiver, Hilda Mallory, Debbie Anderson, Audrey Lakes, Fran
Neeley, and Jackie Alsobrook. Library Director Priscilla McAnally and Friends Co -Chair Amanda Green also
attended.
The minutes from the previous meeting were approved as printed.
Members of the board were invited to the library volunteer appreciation luncheon to be held April 28 at 11 a.m.
Volunteers will be presented umbrellas as gifts. The library currently has 12 active volunteers.
Budget preparation for the 2008 -2009 year will begin next month. The director will request additional
personnel, new computers, and additional funding to building maintenance for outside repairs. HWH recently
repaired two new leaks in the roof — unfortunately, they were in the area just replastered. Door repairs also had
to be made at a cost of $1 100.
In old business, the proposed art brochure and the proposed Patron Conduct Policy were distributed. Suggested
additions to the policy were a smoking prohibition and a disclaimer on lost and stolen items.
The director has contacted Utility Masters concerning their employees parking on the library parking lot and
littering the library grounds.
Budget and statistical reports were distributed and reviewed.
The Friends luncheon is scheduled for April 24. They are discussing summer programs — possibly a Junior
Friends organization. An art after hours event to coincide with the publication of the new brochure is also a
possibility.
Shona Harris joined the library staff April 1. New phones have been installed. Shrubs on the south side of the
parking lot will be replaced with something more aesthetic (after a property survey has been conducted). Shrubs
obscuring the front sign have been removed.
The director reported on the recent staff trip to Minneapolis. There being no further business on the agenda, the
chairman adjourned the meeting at 4:50 p.m.
Submitted by,
Debbie Anderson, Secretary
