Chairman Bill Kennedy called the meeting to
order. Other members in attendance were Eddie Poole, Deborah Hatley, Hilda Mallory,
Linda Vandiver, and Jackie Alsobrook. Also in attendance was Library Director Priscilla
McAnally.
The minutes of the March meeting were approved as printed.
The library director reported that she had contacted Audrey Lakes and she is interested in
returning to the Board to fill the expired term of Jackie Alsobrook. She will be
recommended to the City Council.
A program on nearby travel destinations has been set for April 21 at 6:00 p.m. Those
making presentations include: Mary Clark on Oklahoma, Carl and Martha Unger on the
TAMU - Commerce planetarium, Jackie Alsobrook on the Tyler Discovery and Science
Museum, Thomas Belew on the Museums of Fort Worth, Bill Kennedy on Historic
Jefferson, and Becky Semple on local attractions.
Board Member Linda Vandiver suggested a future program on resume writing would be
appropriate considering the current economy and possible job loss.
The new ELMO has arrived and will be used Tuesday for the travel program.
The Library volunteer luncheon has been set for Monday, April 20 at 11:00 a.m.
The budget was presented by the director. There were no unusual expenditures. The
director then presented library statistics for March. Both circulation and library visits
were up.
The new city website will be ready around April 27. The library personnel will have the
capability of updating the library portion of the site.
Cara Sulsur has returned to the library in a part -time position. The library director will
attended a PLA symposium conference in Nashville earlier this month.
There was no report from the Friends of the Library.
There being no further business, the chairman adjourned the meeting at 4:30.
Lihrda Vandiver for
Debbie Anderson, Secretary
