Farmers Market:
11 vendors on South side- new vendors are Rico's Hot Sauce and Country Bake Shop. Expecting
NL Garden Study Club, Green Display as well. FM Committee is working hard to promote the market, and
is having a Hats Off to the Market on September 20th with prizes for customers who wear goofy hats, and
the vendors will be wearing goofy hats.
4. Committee Reports
a. Organization - No report
b. Designs — (cheri reported in Dustins absence) design renderings from Texas Main Street are
currently being produced for the Paris Optical Building- Leslie Wolfenden, one of the Paris Main
Street Architects will be submitting them soon and then the Design committee will set up a
meeting with the building owner to get feed back. The design committee has also worked with
local artist Suzanna Coyle and has come up with an awesome design for the use of the festival
of pumpkins promotions this year. Bike racks are in, and Cheri appeared in front of HPC and got
them approved. Looking at locations to place them. (subway, Jaxx, and PCT)- Matt Coyle added
that the Design committee is also working on other signage for the festival.
c. Promotions - Kari working with festival had spoke with Clint McMillian and was reporting that
Choctaw Casino was giving away prizes for the Zombie Walk, and has 250 committed, as well as
a goal of 1000 zombies. Good Job Clint on Prizes!!!
d. Economic Restructure - Britin: building relationships with R3Bl and SBDC at PJC coming up with
options for market stratagies for retention of business, noting with growth of downtown we
might have turnover(which happens) but wanted to help give the businesses the tools needed
for success. This can be done with partnerships and training that business owners might not
know is available through the groups afore mentioned. Revitalization Related: Fire Posters with
Smile( logo the whole town got behind after the 1916 fire) Britin and Marvin Gorley are working
on this as a revitalization fundraiser for Main Street and will be sold at FoP. Britin brought some
show and tell of other posters and looking into the possibility of using them for other
fundraisers. Firemans Ball scheduled for March 2012- Lots of fun ideas for Fire Festival and how
to make it a success, ER did not meet for August, too hot- and September was busy for
everyone, so plans for the future meeting will focus on Building and Business inventory and
business assistance. See Attached email.
e. HPC report-Matt Certificates of Appropriateness -1 was signage for a Downtown Business, the
other was the Bike Racks.
f. PDA report Kari Daniel, PDA president
• Magazine is almost complete- has been in discussions with interested business person potential
childrens clothing store (bling style clothing for kids 8 -18) and also someone interested in
potential of a Maternity store.
• Sofa and Such moved out to the Lamar avenue location of the old blockbuster, and the building is
for sale. $1500 per month, or rumors of $150K-
• Paris Framing and Design Closed its doors, and Robin Weems- Itsy Bitsy Spider purchased the
building and is going to open up soon.
g. VCC /Chamber- Cheri filled in for Becky- $10,000 shop local campaign is going well, and they
met and have momentum going. 35 businesses to date were signed up, inclement weather
plan, and chamber bucks are going to be offered as an incentive. Buy $100 dollars for $80. And
spend them as cash for face value. Savings 20 %. 47 business is the magic number to make that
happen.
