MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />MONDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2012 <br />4:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Paul Denney, <br />Vice - Chairman at 4:03 p.m. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman <br />Douglas Cox <br />Ben Vaughan <br />Nancy Anderson <br />Britin Bostick <br />David Stewart <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />C. Also present Cheri Bedford, Main Street Manager; and Jeanna Scott, Historic <br />Preservation Officer. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. (February 8, 2012) <br />Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Britin Bostick to approve the meeting <br />minutes for February 8, 2012. Motion carried 6 -0. <br />3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness: <br />A. 140 North Main Street — Carl Harcrow, property owner presented the petition. <br />Mr. Harcrow stated he was concerned the awning would fall because of the deterioration <br />of the wood portions of the structure; therefore he is proposing to remove the awning. <br />Mr. Harcrow will come back at a later date to get approval for the new awning. <br />Commissioners asked Mr. Harcrow what materials were used in the original construction <br />of the awning. Mr. Harcrow stated that currently it appears the awning was constructed <br />with plywood, two by four's, metal, with comp shingles on the roof portion. The awning <br />is very heavy which increases his concern that it could come down. Motion was made by <br />Ben Vaughan, seconded by Nancy Anderson to approve the COA. Motion carried 6 -0. <br />B. 504 Lamar Avenue — Glen Wark, contractor presented the petition. Mr. Wark <br />stated he was made aware he would need to come back for approval prior to installation <br />of the windows. Motion was made by Britin Bostick, seconded by Douglas Cox to <br />approve the COA. Motion carried 6 -0. <br />
