V. 419 West Henderson
Code Enforcement recommendation to demolish structure.
W. 137 West Cherry
Code Enforcement recommendation to demolish structure.
X. 33019th Street N.E.
Code Enforcement recommendation to demolish structure.
Y. 1705 West Campbell Street
Code Enforcement recommendation to demolish structure.
Paul Denney requested items 5S, 5U and 5X for discussion.
Robert Talley, Code Enforcement Supervisor stated the property owners live across the
street from 618 West Austin (5S) and they agree the house needs to be demolished.
There is a hole in the west roof, all shingles are deteriorating and have fallen inside the
house. Mr. Talley further stated the property owners have asked for 90 days to demolish
the house and that will be his recommendation to Building and Standards.
Robert Talley stated 5U has a foundation that is starting to lean and the roof shingles
have deteriorated. There is a lot of water damage on the inside of the house due to a large
whole in the south side roof at the peak. However, it is leaking in several different places
and he feels the roof is in danger of collapsing. The structure is unsecure and there is a
day care located directly across the street from this house and it is dangerous situation.
Mr. Talley further stated he is recommending 30 days to demolish the structure.
Robert Talley stated 5X has received at least 20 code complaints on this structure. The
house is unsecure because the door is laying out in the yard. The wiring has been
stripped out the house, and the plumbing has been removed. Code Enforcement has
abated this house on three occasions and they have been unable to contact the property
owners.
Motion was made by Nancy Anderson, seconded by Ben Vaughan to send all structures
to the Building and Standards Commission, since they cannot be rehabilitated nor do they
have significant historical value. Motion carried 7 -0.
6. Future agenda items. Addition of useful grey as an approved color.
7. Meeting adjourned at 12:56 p.m.
