MINUTES <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 12, 2011 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, <br />Chairman at 12:00 p.m. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Douglas Cox <br />Ben Vaughan <br />Paul Denney, Vice- Chainnan <br />Matt Coyle <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Susan Scholz, Secretary <br />C. Also present were Jeanna Scott, City Staff; and Zachary Branch., Ex- Officio. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous minutes. (December 8, 2010) <br />Motion was made by Douglas Cox, seconded by Ben Vaughan to approve the minutes for <br />the December 8, 2010 meeting. Motion carried 6 -0. <br />3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness: <br />A. 7 West Houston Street — Jeff Starnes, business owner presented the petition. Mr. <br />Starnes stated he will put up a window sign at the new location. He also would <br />like to put up 18 X 36 blade sign similar to the sign he had at his other location. <br />Mr. Starnes further stated he will reuse the masts that held the other sign for this <br />location. The sign will be at least ten foot from the sidewalk. Motion was made <br />by Paul Denney, seconded by Ben Vaughan to approve the COA. Motion carried <br />6 -0. <br />B. 4 North Plaza — Kevin Cannon, business owner presented the petition. Mr. <br />Cannon stated he installed vinyl lettering to the front and side elevation of his <br />store. Motion was made by Matt Coyle, seconded by Ben Vaughan to approve <br />the COA. Motion carried 6 -0. <br />4. Report, discussion and possible action on changing the Design Guidelines regarding <br />painting the exterior masonry on commercial buildings presented by Paul Denney. <br />
