MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />MONDAY, JANUARY 24, 2011 <br />4:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, <br />Chairman at 4:00 p.m. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Douglas Cox <br />Ben Vaughan <br />Susan Scholz, Secretary <br />Matt Coyle <br />Jerry Raper <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman <br />C. Also present were Jeanna Scott, City Staff, Zachary Branch, Ex- Officio; and <br />Rhonda Rogers, City Council Member. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous minutes. (January 12, 2011) <br />Motion was made by Susan Scholz, seconded by Matt Coyle to approve the minutes for <br />the January 12, 2011 meeting. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />Ben Vaughan arrived at 4:03 p.m. <br />3. Consideration of and action on the. following Certificate of Appropriateness: <br />A. 123 Clarksville Street — David Stewart, business owner, presented the petition. <br />Mr. Stewart stated he has a big problem with water coming into the building when it <br />rains. He would like to re -brisk the columns and add a channel box and down spout to <br />get rain water away from the building. Mr. Stewart further stated he will channel the <br />water away from the building using a gutter installed with the new sidewalks that will <br />deflect the water to the street. He is further proposing painting and repairing canopy and <br />stucco above the canopy. Commissioners requested Mr. Stewart try and clean the stucco <br />using TSP and bleach or JOMAX and a soft brush. Motion was made by Susan Scholz, <br />seconded by Matt Coyle to approve of removal of down spout and its replacement as <br />presented, the removal of the non historic brick column and its replacement, along with <br />its partner on the east corner and cleaning of the stucco. Motion carried 6 -0. <br />
