MINUTES <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13, 2011 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, <br />Chairman at 12:00 p.m. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Douglas Cox <br />Ben Vaughan <br />Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman <br />Matt Coyle <br />Susan Scholz, Secretary <br />Jerry Raper <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />C. Also present were Jeanna Scott, City Staff; and Cheri Bedford, Main Street <br />Coordinator. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous minutes. (March 28, 2011) <br />Motion was made by Susan. Scholz, seconded by Matt Coyle to approve the minutes for <br />the March 28, 2011 meeting. Motion carried 7 -0. <br />3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness: <br />A. 812 South Church Street — Sam Bell Maxey House — Kaitlin Ammon represented <br />the petition. Ms. Ammon stated THC is changing the signs on a lot of the state <br />properties and this is the sign approved package Ben Vaughan expressed <br />concerns that the directional sign located north of the driveway entrance is too <br />close to the street. Jeanna Scott stated that the sign will have to be at least 15 feet <br />behind the curb according to the Sign Ordinance. Ms. Scott further stated that the <br />Sam Bell Maxey House will need to apply for a variance in order to place the sign <br />in that location. Ms. Ammon stated the large tree directly west of the proposed <br />sign has hindered the placement of the sign. Motion was made by Paul Denney, <br />seconded by Susan Scholz to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness <br />contingent on all signs meeting the sign ordinance. Motion carried 7 -0. <br />
