Report and update from Cheri Bedford, Main Street Manager, regarding ongoing events
and projects.
Cheri Bedford, Main Street Manager, made report to the commissioners. Monday night
at the City Council meeting the Mayor made a proclamation that May is Preservation
Month for the City of Paris. In conjunction with preservation month we have planned a
project for May 21St on the Plaza from 10:00 to 12:00 pm. that will involve kids from the
area schools along with Main Street having a table showing ongoing projects. Movies in
the park is scheduled to begin June 2, Farmers Market will have a grand opening on May
28th. Fanners Market has really gotten busy; we have done a lot of work cleaning up the
area. Ms. Bedford stated we have made some banners to be displayed at the market.
Finally, the PDA has expressed a desire to have sod planted on the Plaza, with the new
landscaping we would like to move forward and address the patchy areas. The sod bid
we received was 7,000 and 7,100, PDA will use the money raised on concessions which
is projected to be around $2,000, and in conjunction with Main Street fund raising we
have an additional $1,500, bringing the total funds raised to $3,500. Currently they need
3,500 to go toward the grass; Ms. Bedford is requesting HPC to make a donation.
6 Report, discussion and possible action on making a donation to Main Street for grass
installation at Culbertson Fountain.
Cheri Bedford, Main Street Manager stated that they will be using Zoysia grass; it is
disease resistant, handles heavy traffic, covers really well and does not require a lot of
water. Motion was made by Susan Scholz, seconded by Matt Coyle to donate $3,500.00
to the purchase of the grass. Motion carried 5 -0.
