Historic Preservation line item. <br />3. Report, discussion and possible action on approving a design, for the building plaques to <br />be placed on the historic buildings located in the downtown district. <br />Ragan Stone and the 5th grade Socrates Class presented their design for the proposed <br />building plaques for five of the downtown historic buildings. The plaques will be eight <br />inches by ten inches, and of bronze construction. Motion was made by Susan Scholz, <br />seconded by Douglas Cox to approve the bronze building plaques as presented. Motion <br />carried 5 -0. <br />4. Report, discussion and possible action on making a donation to the Socrates Class for the <br />bronze plaques to be placed on historic buildings in the downtown district. <br />Motion was made by Susan Scholz, seconded by Douglas Cox to donate $200.00 per <br />plaque for a total of five plaques. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />5. Report and update from Cheri Bedford, Main Street Manager, regarding ongoing events <br />and projects. <br />Cheri Bedford, Main Street Manager, made report to the commissioners. Monday night <br />at the City Council meeting the Mayor made a proclamation that May is Preservation <br />Month for the City of Paris. In conjunction with preservation month we have planned a <br />project for May 21St on the Plaza from 10:00 to 12:00 pm. that will involve kids from the <br />area schools along with Main Street having a table showing ongoing projects. Movies in <br />the park is scheduled to begin June 2, Farmers Market will have a grand opening on May <br />28th. Fanners Market has really gotten busy; we have done a lot of work cleaning up the <br />area. Ms. Bedford stated we have made some banners to be displayed at the market. <br />Finally, the PDA has expressed a desire to have sod planted on the Plaza, with the new <br />landscaping we would like to move forward and address the patchy areas. The sod bid <br />we received was 7,000 and 7,100, PDA will use the money raised on concessions which <br />is projected to be around $2,000, and in conjunction with Main Street fund raising we <br />have an additional $1,500, bringing the total funds raised to $3,500. Currently they need <br />3,500 to go toward the grass; Ms. Bedford is requesting HPC to make a donation. <br />6 Report, discussion and possible action on making a donation to Main Street for grass <br />installation at Culbertson Fountain. <br />Cheri Bedford, Main Street Manager stated that they will be using Zoysia grass; it is <br />disease resistant, handles heavy traffic, covers really well and does not require a lot of <br />water. Motion was made by Susan Scholz, seconded by Matt Coyle to donate $3,500.00 <br />to the purchase of the grass. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />
