MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />MONDAY, AUGUST 22, 2011 <br />4:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Paul Denney, <br />Vice - Chairman at 4:02 p.m. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman <br />Douglas Cox <br />Ben Vaughan <br />Nancy Anderson <br />David Stewart <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Matt Coyle <br />C. Also present were Jeanna Scott, Historic Preservation Officer. <br />2. Approval of minutes f °om previous meetings. (August 10, 2011) <br />Motion was made by Douglas Cox, seconded by Ben Vaughan to approve the August 10, <br />2011 meeting minutes. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness: <br />A. 7 East Plaza — Randy Rader property owner presented the petition. Mr. Rader <br />stated he will be adding an awning/canopy to the front of 7 East Plaza. The <br />awning will be constructed per the documents presented and will have the tongue <br />and groove covers over the edge to make it look nice. Motion was made by Ben <br />Vaughan, seconded by Douglas Cox to approve the COA as presented. Motion <br />carried 5 -0. <br />B. 134 North Main Street — Main Street Beads and Fiber — Sarah O'Hearne business <br />owner presented the petition. Ms. O'Hearne stated she is adding a sign under the <br />canopy in front of her business. Ben Vaughan asked if the sign would clear the <br />sidewalk by the required 8 feet by ordinance. Ms. O'Hearne stated she did not <br />think that it would. Commissioners discussed moving the sign to the interior of <br />the front window. Ms. O'Hearne agreed this would be acceptable. Motion was <br />made by Douglas Cox, seconded by Nancy Anderson to approve the sign with the <br />exception that the sign be placed in the window. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />
