MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 201.0 <br />4:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, <br />Chairman at 4:00 p.m. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Douglas Cox <br />Ben Vaughan <br />Susan Scholz, Secretary <br />Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman <br />Matt Coyle <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Jerry Raper <br />C. Also present were Jeanna Scott, City Staff, Cheri Bedford, Main Street <br />Coordinator; and Rhonda Rogers, City Council Member. <br />2. Approval of minutes.fr•om previous minutes. (September 8, 2010) <br />Motion was made by Susan Scholz, seconded by Matt Coyle to approve the minutes for <br />the September 8, 2010 meeting. Motion carried 6 -0. <br />3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness: <br />A. 32 W. Plaza — Spangler's — Stella Nance, property owner presented the petition. <br />Ms. Nance stated they want to install a canopy at their property like the one at the <br />Collegiate Shoppe. The awning will be canvas and black in color, they are also <br />proposing adding signage to the window areas of the store front. Motion was <br />made by Susan Scholz, seconded by Matt Coyle to approve the COA. Motion <br />carried 6 -0. <br />B. 222 Clarksville Street — Janet Green — Arvin Starrett stated Janet Green phoned <br />Jeanna Scott, City Staff to let her know she would not be at this meeting. A <br />special meeting will be held this Friday at 12:00 to discuss this petition as well as <br />a rule that will allow the commission to act in certain situations. Chairman <br />Starrett further stated this rule will allow for the alteration of the primary facade <br />of certain buildings in the Downtown Historic District.
