MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />CITY OF PARIS - CITY HALL <br />COUNCIL CHAMBERS <br />107 E. KAUFMAN STREET <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />TUESDAY, JUNE 21, 2011 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The Board of Adjustment meeting was called to order by Chairman Terry Christian at <br />12:02 p.m. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Allen Moore <br />Rick Hundley <br />Terry Christian, Chairman <br />Bryan Glass <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Chester Martindale <br />Kyle McCarley <br />C. Also present was Jeanna Scott, City Staff. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. (May I8, 2011) <br />Motion was made by Allen Moore, seconded by Bryan Glass to approve minutes for <br />the May 18, 2011 meeting. Motion carried 4 -0. <br />3. Public hearing and consideration of and action on the petition of Sam Bell Maxey House to <br />grant a variance of the Sign Ordinance 2008 -021, Section 28- 10(b). Location ofground <br />signs and torpedo signs. (b) No ground sign or torpedo sign shall be closer than six (6), feet <br />to any building, nor to the side of any lot, nor closer than f fteen (1 S) feet too any curb line; <br />to allow a ground sign to be located seven (7) feet from a curb line, which is an eight (8) <br />foot variance, on Lot 20, City Block 158, being number 812 South Church Street. <br />Public hearing was declared open. <br />A. The following individuals spoke in favor of the petition: <br />Lynn Deal, Site Manager for the Maxey House spoke in favor of the petition. Ms. <br />Deal stated they are upgrading the signs at the Maxey House to better serve the <br />public. There is a tree located where the proposed sign should be, to meet the <br />requirements of the sign ordinance the sign would be placed so far back the public <br />
