Owner: Anna Linch and Frances Jones 1611 HWY 24 S Paris, TX 75462
Present: Frances Jones
Don Wilson apologized to Frank Jones property owner of 1950 Hubbard for
the wrong date being posted on the Legal Notice and explained that we would
send him a letter to attend the next meeting of the Building and Standards
Commission.
4. Update from Code Enforcement
(1) Don Wilson explained that Holland Harper was in attendance to update
the Commission on the property owned by We Reit LLC TLLC at
266 -270 1St S.W.; Lot 3 -A, City Block 177 -A. Since there will be no
action taken on this the Commission will listen to the update. He will not
recuse himself since no action will be taken.
Holland Harper's update on the building was to leave the building
structurally sound with a structural engineer recommendation. The
repair will come later and will be handled through the permit department.
(2) A spread sheet was in the Building and Standard packet. This is a list of
properties the committee has looked at and the progress on the property.
(3) Robert Talley included several pictures of downtown roof tops. He
explained that Dale Mayberry the Fire Inspector took the photos after a
rain to show that very little water is standing on the roof tops.
Don Wilson wanted to know if Robert was still going to start a systematic
check of the downtown buildings. Mr. Wilson would like to have proof we
have started the inspections.
5. Future agenda Items
(1.) All properties that were listed on this agenda need to be put on the next
regular scheduled meeting.
(2.) The Commission would like an updated report on how many buildings
downtown Robert has inspected and how many are leaking.
(3.) A system needs to be established on getting the downtown buildings
inspected.
(4.) On the report it needs to state if anyone refused to allow the city into the
property and what process was taken to get access to the building and how it was
handled.
Don Wilson wants to focus on saving buildings. He stated we have a back log of
demolitions. At this time we have not started demolitions since the ending of the
State Supreme Court decision in Stewart vs. Dallas. We have 20 -30 homes on the
list to demo. Johnny Norris stated if there are structures that can be saved they
