Annual Meeting <br />Civil Service Commission <br />January 14, 2010 <br />The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair, Zenetta Fulbright @ 3:00 p.m. Members present were <br />Zenetta Fulbright and Howard Corriston. The Third Civil Service Commissioner has not been appointed. <br />The minutes of the October 28, 2009 Civil Service Commission meeting were reviewed and approved by <br />members present. <br />Vice Chair, Zenetta Fulbright opened the floor for the nomination of a Chair Person. Howard Corriston <br />nominated Zenetta Fulbright and there were no other nominations. There was a unanimous decision <br />that Zenetta Fulbright would be the Chair Person. The floor was open for a nomination for Vice Chair. <br />Zenetta Fulbright nominated Howard Corriston and there were no other nominations. There was a <br />unanimous decision that Howard Corriston would be Vice Chair. <br />Quarterly meeting dates were scheduled as follows: <br />April 15, 2010 <br />July 15, 2010 <br />October 21, 2010 <br />Melba Harris presented the Civil Service Activity Report for 2009. The report is attached. <br />Bob Hundley requested a policy change to allow for the rehiring of officers who left the department in <br />good standing without having to take another exam. Howard made a motion to approve and the <br />motion was approved with a unanimous vote. <br />A request was made to approve the update of the City's Civil Service Procedures to include a minor <br />enhancement of the wording for the minimum qualifications for the entry level firefighter to include a <br />Physical Ability Evaluation, "Which includes the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Mask Fit <br />Test." The wording within the quotations was added to the minimum qualifications. A motion was <br />made by Howard Corriston to approve the update of the City Civil Service Procedures including the <br />enhancement of the wording related to the Physical Ability Evaluation, it was second by Zenetta <br />Fulbright and the motion was approved unanimously. <br />The meeting was adjourned. <br />Melba P.
