MINUTES - <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2009 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, <br />Chairman. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Douglas Cox <br />Ben Vaughan <br />Jerry Raper <br />Matt Coyle <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Susan Scholz, Secretary <br />Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman <br />C. Also present was Jeanna Scott, City Staff. <br />2. Consideration of and action on the following Certificates of Appropriateness: <br />A. 28 West Plaza — Alex, Scott's Custom Signs presented the petition. Alex passed out <br />an updated color rendering reflecting the requested sign approval. Alex further stated <br />they are within the allowable signage per the Design Guidelines. The new business is <br />opening in January and would like to have the signage up by that time. Motion was <br />made by Jerry Raper, seconded by Matt Coyle to approve the COA. Motion carried <br />5 -0. <br />B. 507 South Church Street — Larry Womack, 507 Church Street, presented the petition. <br />Mr. Womack stated they are replacing the canopy on the, back of the house. The <br />canopy will extend the width of the back of the house to protect the area from the <br />weather. The canopy will be hunter green fabric and extend out 4 feet from the <br />house. Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Jerry Raper to approve the <br />COA. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Douglas Cox, to recuse Matt Coyle <br />from item 2C and 3A. Motion carried 4 -0. <br />C. 112 South Main Street 13 South Plaza — Matt Coyle, 112 South Main Street, presented <br />the petition. Mr. Coyle stated they are adding an awning to the front and side of the <br />building. It will be similar to the awning that Mr. Womack presented. The fabric <br />
