MINUTES <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2009 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, <br />Chairman. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chainnan <br />Douglas Cox <br />Ben Vaughan <br />Jerry Raper <br />Matt Coyle <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Susan Scholz, Secretary <br />Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman <br />C. Also present was Jeanna Scott, City Staff. <br />2. Consideration of and action on the following Certificates of Appropriateness: <br />A. 23 East Plaza — Britin Bostick, 222 E. Hickory, presented the petition. Ms. Bostick <br />stated the sign request will be temporary. The signs will be in place until the election <br />on November 4, 2010. Ms. Bostick further stated there will be two signs, one will be <br />a door sign and the other sign will be placed on the canopy. Motion was made by <br />Ben Vaughan, seconded by Matt Coyle to approve the COA. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />B. 265 South Main Street — Britin Bostick, 222 E. Hickory, presented the petition. Ms. <br />Bostick stated there is an accessory building attached to the east side of the building <br />and the structure is dilapidated and structurally unsound. Ms. Bostick further stated <br />they believe it to once be a kitchen for the hotel; however, they have not been able to <br />verify that information. HWH will only be removing the sides of the structure, the <br />roof looks to be a support structure for the fire escape, therefore they are afraid to <br />remove it, and the fire escape could fall. There will be further investigation regarding <br />the roof as they go forward. Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Jerry <br />Raper to approve the COA. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />3. Request for future agenda items. Report on utility district meeting from Matt Coyle. <br />Report from HPO in January. Report from BSC on Historic District Demolition by <br />neglect from Robert Talley. <br />
