MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2009 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, <br />Chainnan. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Douglas Cox <br />Ben Vaughan <br />Jerry Raper <br />Matt Coyle <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Susan Scholz, Secretary <br />Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman <br />C. Also present was Jeanna Scott, City Staff. <br />2. Discussion of and possible action of the Historic Preservation Commissions possible <br />participation in the historic street lights to be placed around the Maxey House. <br />Greg Whalin with Holophane presented the new LED street lightning system to the <br />commission. Commissioners discussed making a contribution to the installation of the <br />new street lights for the Maxey House. <br />Motion was made by Jerry Raper, seconded by Douglas Cox to contribute $500.00 per <br />light fixture not to exceed five light fixtures to the Maxey House. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />3. Discussion of and possible action on nominations for the Visionaries Award. <br />Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Douglas Cox to nominate "The Friends <br />of the Maxey House" for the Visionaries Award. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />4. Report, discussion and possible action on Fagade grants. <br />Commissioners discussed raising the facade grants awarded to $1,000. The <br />commissioners also discussed recipients providing after pictures of work done before <br />dispersing grant money. Motion was made by Douglas Cox, seconded by Ben Vaughan <br />to raise the grant allocation to $1,000. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />
