MINUTES <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />TUESDAY, MAY 26, 2009 <br />4:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, <br />Chairman. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chainnan <br />Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman <br />Susan Scholz, Secretary <br />Ben Vaughan <br />Matt Coyle <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Brad Archer <br />Jerry Raper <br />C. Also present was Jeanna Scott, Administrative Assistant. <br />2. Approval of minutes, from previous meetings (April 8, 2009) <br />Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Matt Coyle to approve April 11, 2009 <br />minutes. Motion carried 4 -0. <br />4. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness: <br />A. S East Plaza — Artesia Enterprises, LLC, Gary Brown stated they have negotiated <br />with Subway to lease this property. They have brought copies of all drawings to the <br />meeting. Jeff Martin, Subway Owner, stated they will be pulling off the current <br />boards where windows use to be and replacing with glass, also going back with <br />chocolate colored aluminum around the windows. They will also be adding an <br />additional door at north side of building per code. There use to be an entrance on <br />north side and it was bricked over. Mr. Martin further stated they will need a <br />covering over door to protect it and is proposing an aluminum frame canvas canopy <br />in the same chocolate brown color that is on the building. Arvin Starrett asked will <br />you be using existing door on the front of the building. Mr. Martin stated they are <br />proposing a glass aluminum door. Paul Denney asked if it could be a solid door. Mr. <br />Martin stated he preferred to use a see thru door for security purposes. Chairman <br />Starrett stated if you are replacing both doors, couldn't they be wood and glass. Mr. <br />Martin said that would not be a problem. He wants the building exterior to blend <br />with the downtown buildings. Subway is not near as picky with exterior of the <br />building verses the interior. Alex, Scott Custom Signs, presented the signage package <br />Subway is proposing. Alex stated they will be using existing sign frames and will <br />
