A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />COMMISSION EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE CITY OF PARIS'S <br />APPLICATION FOR A STATEWIDE TRANSPORTATION <br />ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM GRANT FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT <br />OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FUNDING FOR SIDEWALK AND OTHER <br />IMPROVEMENTS IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA; MAKING OTHER <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation provides funding for Statewide <br />Transportation Enhancement Program grants, and the City of Paris wishes to undertake a project to <br />improve the safety and efficiency of movement of pedestrians; and, <br />WHEREAS, the recently completed Phases I and II of the Streetscape Project, which <br />improved sidewalks in the Downtown Historic District, is a viable and important asset to the city, <br />its citizens, and local businesses, and the extension of the project to include additional sidewalks in <br />the District will accomplish the intentions of the City; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing an application <br />for the Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program grant for Phase III of the Streetscape Project, <br />and the City of Paris Historic Preservation Commission finds that this project will help to improve <br />both the appearance and the safety of the sidewalks located within the Downtown Historic District <br />and desires to express its support for said project; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />COMMISSION: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br />Section 2. That the Historic Preservation Commission does hereby express its support for <br />the City of Paris's filing of an application to the Texas Department of Transportation for a Statewide <br />Transportation Enhancement Program grant for improvements to sidewalks and other amenities in <br />the Downtown Historic District that will help to improve the overall appearance of the District and <br />the walking safety for the public. <br />Section 3.
