MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />CITY HALL WEST ANNEX <br />CONFERENCE ROOM <br />150 1ST STREET S.E. <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />WEDNESDAY, MAY 11, 2005 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The Historic Preservation Commission Meeting was called to order by <br />Chairman Arvin Starrett at 12:00 P.M. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Barbara Wilson, Vice Chairman <br />Ann Rodgers, Secretary <br />Sue Lancaster <br />Paul Denney <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Jerry Raper <br />Claudia Hunt <br />Alternates: Brian Wear <br />Becki Norment <br />C. Also present was Bethany Golden, Main Street Coordinator, sitting as <br />Assistant Historic Preservation Officer in the absence of Lisa Wright, <br />Historic Preservation Officer, who was sick. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. Motion to approve the minutes <br />for March 28, 2005, and April 13, 2005, was made by Sue Lancaster, seconded <br />by Ann Rogers. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificates of Appropriateness: <br />A. 509 S. Main - Glenn and Lynn Bertelson. Motion to approve the COA to <br />paint the house and brick retaining wall and construct a carport with <br />squared columns was made by Barbara Wilson, seconded by Sue <br />Lancaster. Motion carried 5 -0. The Bertelsons were advised that they <br />could change the exterior color slightly from that approved without <br />need for an additional COA. <br />4. Consideration of andpossible action on amendments to the proposed Design <br />Guidelines for the Downtown Historic Districtas the same relates to canopies. <br />The Board expressed a concern that other ordinances relating to the <br />
