Members of this committee should have <br /> the capability to evaluate the business plan and financial <br /> information provided by the company. The committee may <br /> include some or all of the members of the Paris Economic <br /> Development Corporation and other appointees in a decision <br /> making or advisory capacity. Characteristics and skills which <br /> are important to the project review team are as follows: <br /> <br /> * understanding of the community, its economy and goals <br /> <br /> * unquestioned integrity <br /> <br /> * ethical, can be trusted with confidential business <br /> information <br /> <br /> * able to balance caution, creativity, and risk-taking <br /> <br /> * good communicator, fosters enlightened debate while <br /> maintaining a positive team spirit <br /> <br /> * significant business experience <br /> <br /> * understanding of finance and ability/willingness to <br /> combine various economic development tools into a <br /> financing package <br /> <br /> * ability to recognize positive attributes of various proposals <br /> as well as the ability to identify projects most likely to fail <br /> <br /> * ability to identify and to manage risk <br /> <br /> * legal, accounting, construction/engineering, lending, <br /> manufacturing, and entrepreneurial skills <br /> <br /> <br />
