MINUTES <br />TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />Tuesday, August 1, 2000 <br />Municipal Court Room - 811 Bonham Street <br />Paris, Texas <br />The Traffic Commission met in regular session Tuesday, August 1, 2000 <br />with the following members present: <br />1. Charles Thompson <br />2. Ed Ellis <br />3. John Gooding <br />4. Cleo Holmes <br />5. George Robinson <br />6. Kenneth Webb <br />The city staff was represented by Assistant Police Chief James Barnett. <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:15 P.M. by Chairman George Robin- <br />son. <br />The Minutes of the June 6, 2000 meeting were approved as submitted. <br />The first item of business was a request for No Parking Zone on both <br />sides of West Campbell Street, starting at the West curb line of NW <br />19th Street (FM 79) to the West 600 feet. This would cover the 1900 <br />thru the 2100 blocks. <br />Assistant Chief Barnett reported that this request was submitted thr- <br />ough the City Manager's Office. It was also discussed that there had <br />been no accidents in this location, other than one incident where a <br />parked vehicle had been struck in the door by another vehicle reported <br />to have intentionaly swerved toward it. The owner of the damaged veh- <br />icle had requested no action be taken. Barnett also said he had mail- <br />ed a copy of the agenda to every resident in the area and no one appear- <br />ed to speak for or against the request. He also said that there had <br />not been any reports of any traffic problems from the police, fire or <br />ambulance service in this area so he recommended the request be denied. <br />After discussion Ed Ellis made a motion that the request be denied. <br />Charles Thompson seconded and the motion passed 5 ayes to 0 nays. Ken- <br />neth Webb had not arrived yet. <br />Next a request for a Stop Sign on West Kaufman Street at SW 21st Streeet, <br />stopping East and West bound traffic at SW 21st Street on Kaufman St- <br />eet was considered. <br />Assistant Chief Barnett reported that there had been no accidents at <br />this intersection for Calander Year 1999 and that Kaufman Street was <br />the street with the most traffic and usually we would stop the less <br />travelled street at an intersection he recommended the request be den- <br />ied. <br />Cleo Holmes made a motion, after discussion, that the request be denied. <br />Charles Thompson seconded and the motion carried 5 ayes to 0 nays. <br />Kenneth Webb not being present. <br />The next request considered was a request for Stop Signs at County Road <br />12140 at County Road 12100 (Old Clarksville Road), stopping North bound <br />traffic on CR 12 140 at CR 12100 (Old Clarksville Road). <br />
