MINUTES TRAFFIC COMMISSION Tuesday, August 1, 2000 Municipal Court Room - 811 Bonham Street Paris, Texas The Traffic Commission met in regular session Tuesday, August 1, 2000 with the following members present: 1. Charles Thompson 2. Ed Ellis 3. John Gooding 4. Cleo Holmes 5. George Robinson 6. Kenneth Webb The city staff was represented by Assistant Police Chief James Barnett. The meeting was called to order at 5:15 P.M. by Chairman George Robin- son. The Minutes of the June 6, 2000 meeting were approved as submitted. The first item of business was a request for No Parking Zone on both sides of West Campbell Street, starting at the West curb line of NW 19th Street (FM 79) to the West 600 feet. This would cover the 1900 thru the 2100 blocks. Assistant Chief Barnett reported that this request was submitted thr- ough the City Manager's Office. It was also discussed that there had been no accidents in this location, other than one incident where a parked vehicle had been struck in the door by another vehicle reported to have intentionaly swerved toward it. The owner of the damaged veh- icle had requested no action be taken. Barnett also said he had mail- ed a copy of the agenda to every resident in the area and no one appear- ed to speak for or against the request. He also said that there had not been any reports of any traffic problems from the police, fire or ambulance service in this area so he recommended the request be denied. After discussion Ed Ellis made a motion that the request be denied. Charles Thompson seconded and the motion passed 5 ayes to 0 nays. Ken- neth Webb had not arrived yet. Next a request for a Stop Sign on West Kaufman Street at SW 21st Streeet, stopping East and West bound traffic at SW 21st Street on Kaufman St- eet was considered. Assistant Chief Barnett reported that there had been no accidents at this intersection for Calander Year 1999 and that Kaufman Street was the street with the most traffic and usually we would stop the less travelled street at an intersection he recommended the request be den- ied. Cleo Holmes made a motion, after discussion, that the request be denied. Charles Thompson seconded and the motion carried 5 ayes to 0 nays. Kenneth Webb not being present. The next request considered was a request for Stop Signs at County Road 12140 at County Road 12100 (Old Clarksville Road), stopping North bound traffic on CR 12 140 at CR 12100 (Old Clarksville Road).
