Planning and Zoning Meeting <br />July 2, 2002 <br />Page 3 <br />Kimberly Clark, McCuisition Hospital, and TaMolly's were all cow <br />pastures before they became the successful businesses that they are <br />today. He presented a document with 87 names that were in favor of <br />the duplexes. Mr. Posey presented a document from Janice Wortham, <br />Community Development, Administrative Assistant, stating that she <br />never said the proposed duplexes would be low income. <br />Mr. Posey stated that he was born and raised in West Paris and would <br />not do anything to hurt the area. <br />Perry Hanley, 2345 W. Cherry, spoke against the petition stating that <br />Mr. Posey said in the first meeting that he would build more duplexes <br />if the one was successful. Ms. Hanley spoke with 15 people in the area <br />who are against the petition and does not want the area to change. Mr. <br />Hanley said that renters do not clean up their lots and Mr. Posey has <br />enough land to build a lot of rental property. Drainage problems in the <br />area were also mentioned. <br />Bill Dalton, 2460 24" NW, presented pictures of the lot showing flagging <br />of future plan to build more lots and duplexes. Mr. Dalton stated that <br />landowners make better neighbors than renters. He stated that he liked <br />the neighborhood just like it is and does not want the change. Mr. <br />Dalton asked those who were opposed, at the meeting, to stand up. Five <br />stood up. <br />Tommy Posey returned and stated that 87 names were from West Paris. <br />Mr. Posey presented pictures of neighboring dilapidated structures <br />until Chairman Hayter stopped the presentation. <br />There was no further opposition, the public hearing was declared <br />closed. <br />5.
