MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PLANNING AND <br />ZONING COMMISSION <br />MAY 169 2005 <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission met Monday, May 16, 2005, 5:30, <br />Lamar County Fairgrounds, Westside Building, 570 E. Center Street, <br />Paris, Texas with the following members present: <br />1. Brad Archer <br />2. Marshall Kent <br />3. Carl Lucas <br />4. Bobby L. Myers <br />5. Russell McCain <br />Janice Wortham, Administrative Assistant of the Community Development <br />Department, was also present. <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Marshall Kent at 5:30. <br />2. Public Hearing to consider the petition of Daniel G. Elcan for a <br />change in zoning from an Agricultural District (A) to a General <br />Retail District (GR) on Lot 6, City Block 313, being number 3850 <br />Lamar Avenue. <br />This item was tabled at the May 2, 2005, regular meeting. Should the <br />Commission wish to consider this matter today, a motion to bring this <br />item from the table is required. <br />Motion to remove this item from the table was made by Carl Lucas, <br />seconded by Brad Archer. Motion 5 ayes and 0 nays. <br />The public hearing was declared open. <br />Bestor Ward, of Ward Properties, P.O. Box 81366, Mobile, AL 36608, <br />spoke in favor of the petition stating that the intent is to develop a <br />strip shopping center. The shopping center will consist of a Dollar <br />Tree Store which would be 10,000 sq. ft. Also, there will be 4 <br />additional spaces of 1,500 sq. ft. each. Mr. Ward passed out frontal <br />elevation and a drawing of the site. Since the last meeting, out of <br />consideration for Brady Fisher's concern regarding the trees, Mr. <br />
