- has transportation from parking lot
- reserve 42 spots on tarmac for air show, then half for statics (which will be visiting
aircrafts
Billy Copeland stated visitors won't fly in if we have an air show. Pete Kampfer stated last
year was good, let's duplicate it and add to it. Just add air show and get commitments lined
up. Vic Ressler stated if we don't have something else and we have bad weather, no one will
come out. Jack Ashmore stated that he does not t want gliders this year. Vic Ressler stated
that it was not mutually exclusive, we can do both. Jack Ashmore stated we could start the air
show at 11:00 am and let gliders fly all afternoon, we need a two hour box. Vic Ressler stated
that he thought it was logical to plan the air show around lunch time. Pete Kampfer stated that
we can do food like we did at the archery tournament, and that's have Main Street and the
downtown merchants serve burgers and hot dogs, etc. He further stated moving the statics to
one side is a good idea. The more statics you have the better the air show. This is a novelty
for most people, they don't get this close to airplanes. Motion was made by Pete Kampfer,
seconded by Bill Boothe, to approve a fly -in in conjunction with the air show as presented.
Motion carried 7 -0.
Vic Ressler stated we have about $1,000 in excess, however we need $3,000 for ads. Andy
Fasken asked if the air boss could get us a display from the military. Vic Ressler stated that
the budget leaves no room for t -shirts and pilot give - aways. Andy Fasken asked about
bleachers, and Pete Kampfer stated that it could cost up to $5,000. The board discussed
charging for parking. Jack Ashmore stated he is opposed to a parking charge. Bill Boothe
stated he didn't think we should charge anything the first time around. Jerry Richey added
that, if it rained, there would be nowhere to park cars anyway. Pete Kampfer stated we could
charge $5.00 and benefit an organization. Glen Chapman stated do not charge this year.
Motion was made by Pete Kampfer, seconded by Andy Fasken, to approve a $5.00 parking
fee, with collection of the fee managed by a local non - profit, and Main Street and Downtown
will do the food. Motion carried 6 -0 with Jack Ashmore abstaining.
4. Request items for future agendas. Bill Boothe asked the City to designate places to build
hangers because potential tenants were having to survey off where they wanted to build. Lisa
Wright advised this was covered in the airport master plan, already, and that plan is scheduled
to be updated in the next couple of years.
5. Meeting adjourned at 6:46 p.m.
APPROVED THIS 19TH DAY OF JUNE, 2008.
Vic Ressler, Chairman
