Motion was made by Kyle McCarley, seconded by Rick Hundley to approve the <br />variance. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />Public hearing and consideration of and action on the petition of Comfort Inn Suite to <br />grant a variance of'Section 28 -23(1) of the Sign Ordinance which provides that "the total <br />area per face of an attached sign shall not exceed one (1) square foot of face area per front <br />foot of leased or occupied fascia length, " to allow 1.49 square. foot of face area per front <br />foot of occupied fascia length, which is a. 49 square, foot per front foot variance, on Lot 1, <br />Block A, Khushi & Esha Addition 318, being number 3035 Loop 286 N.E. <br />Public hearing was declared open. <br />A. The following individuals spoke in favor of the petition. <br />Brad Osborne, 2100 Sherry Hill, Civil Engineer for Hayter, Eng., representing <br />owners, Mr. Osborne stated the lot is too narrow to place hotels side by side. <br />Street frontage for the Comfort Inn & Suites is actually on Center Street, however, <br />proposing placement of signs on the Loop side of the building. <br />Carlos Cuevas, 3209 Beckham Court, Plano, Texas, representing owners, Mr. <br />Cuevas stated they downsized to the smallest sign package offered by the franchise. <br />They have eliminated one of the signs that were placed on the end of the building. <br />It has been a challenge for them to come up with a sign package that would meet the <br />sign ordinance. <br />B. The following individuals spoke in opposition of the petition. <br />James Rogers, 3050 Woodhollow, Mr. Rogers stated that the franchise cannot act <br />against a company if they are following City Ordinances or laws. <br />Public hearing was declared closed. <br />Motion was made by Kyle McCarley, seconded by Rick Hundley to approve the <br />variance.
