MINUTES <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />CITY OF PARIS - CITY HALL <br />COUNCIL CHAMBERS <br />107 E. KAUFMAN STREET <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />TUESDAY OCTOBER 7 2008 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Board of Adjustment meeting was called to order by Chairman Terry <br />Christian at 12:00 p.m. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Terry Christian, Chairman <br />Chester Martindale <br />Rodney Bass <br />Louis Yates <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Howard Corriston <br />Alternates: Louis Yates <br />David Glass <br />C. Also present was Lisa A. Wright, Community Development Director and <br />Kevin Kear, City Councilman. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. Motion to approve the minutes <br />of the September 2, 2008, meeting was made by Rodney Bass, seconded by <br />Louis Yates. Motion carried 4 -0. <br />3. Public hearing and consideration of and action on the petition of Charles T. <br />Guy to grant a variance of Zoning Ordinance No. 1710 as follows: (1) Section <br />9 -502 to reduce the required front yard setback from 33' (established building <br />line) to 4, which would be a 29'variance; and (2) Section 9 -601 to reduce the <br />required side yard setback from 5' to 416'; which would be a 6" variance, on <br />Lot 1, Block 7, Mayer Addition, being number 3051 Bonham Street. <br />Public hearing was declared open. <br />The following individuals spoke in favor. <br />Charles T. Guy, 3051 Bonham Street, Mr Guy stated this is his mothers house. <br />She has been in a wheelchair since 1986 except when on walker. Doctor <br />wants her to get fresh air. Need the carport so she can sit outside and not be <br />in the grass. Mr. Guy further stated if it's raining and he needs to take her <br />somewhere, she moves slowly and takes a long time and they get soaked. <br />Also wants carport just to cover cars. On line, can buy a kit so it will save him <br />money. Needs a four space carport to put all the cars and wants a dry place <br />to work. <br />No one spoke in opposition. <br />
