Lamar County Multi- Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan <br />Chapter One <br />1.3 PLAN BACKGROUND <br />Lamar County has a notable history of natural disasters and subsequent recovery efforts. <br />Tornadoes, fires, storms, droughts and floods have pummeled our area since records have been <br />kept. <br />Local historian, Skipper Steely, scoured local records for documentation of the major disasters that <br />have occurred in Lamar County, Texas from 1841 to 2011.
