Minutes <br />Traffic Commission <br />City of Paris <br />The Traffic Commission met in a special meeting on Tuesday October 11, 2016 <br />at 5:15 P.M. in the Municipal Courtroom with the following members present: <br />1. Bill Sanders <br />2. Wendell Moore <br />3. John Eyler <br />4. Jason Warwick <br />5. Tyesha Mathis <br />6. David Ballard <br />The city staff was represented by Asst. Chief Randy Tuttle. <br />City Council was represented by Councilperson Aaron Jenkins. <br />In the absence of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson Bill Sanders called the meeting <br />to order at 5:16pm. A quorum was established with six members present. <br />Mr. Sanders moved to item #2 to approve minutes from September 06, 2016 <br />meeting. Mr. Ballard made a motion to approve the minutes and Ms. Mathis <br />second the motion which passed 6 -0 <br />Mr. Sanders moved to item #3 regarding the discussion and possible action <br />concerning placement of Stop Signs at 16th NE & Van Zandt. Mr. Tuttle informed <br />members that some years ago four yield signs were placed at this intersection <br />and several complaints had been received by the Traffic Department. Mr. Tuttle <br />recommended the Zrield signs be replaced with stops sign to stop north and south <br />bound traffic on 16 NE. A motion to place stops signs on 16"' NE at Van Zandt <br />to stop north and south bound traffic was made by Mr. Warwick. A second was <br />made by Mr. Eyler with motion passing 6 -0. <br />Mr. Sanders then moved to item #4 regarding discussion and possible action <br />concerning changes to school speed zones. Mr. Tuttle informed members that <br />some local schools changed the start and dismissal of school because of state <br />requirements. Mr. Tuttle presented members with an outline of current school <br />speed zones along with the proposed changes to reflect the current start and <br />dismissal times. Mr. Tuttle also informed members that he had reviewed this with <br />local schools and they were in agreement with proposed changes. With seven <br />school zones being on TXDOT maintained roads Mr. Tuttle said he had <br />coordinated the changes with TXDOT also. There were school speed zones on <br />2nd NE, 3`d NE and E. Booth that were recommended by Mr. Tuttle for repeal by <br />council since this school had closed. After discussion Mr. Eyler made a motion to <br />
