Patricia Pridemore: I think what she is saying is that there isn't anything in the policy
that can be done about that now. So now we need to add a morality clause into the policy.
Benny Goforth: So it doesn't happen again.
Mr. Savage: So we went back and ask some questions after the meeting, and one of the
things in the training, people do have an option to seek legal counsel about something
like that. So, all I'm saying is that I know exactly what you're saying but there is nothing
we can do right now. There is nothing this Board can do on that. There's something Sally
can do, but there's nothing we can do.
Ms. Cherry: Oh well. Just let it go. He can do what he wants.
Mr. Savage: I'm not saying that.
Ms. Cherry: That's how it go.
Mr. Savage: There's nothing in the policy right now then there's nothing we can do.
Ms. Cherry: OK.
Mr. Savage: There's nothing really that she can do because if she did, then what you
said about the lawsuit, then you're really setting yourself up for a lawsuit. If you don't
have it covered in a policy, then how can you do anything?
Ms. Cherry: The federal law overrides any....
Mr. Savage: And that's where you would go through the legal system.
Ms. Cherry: You cannot have people spewing racism.
Mr. Savage: I agree. I didn't say I like it.
Ms. Cherry: That's federal that ain't the Housing Authority.
Mr. Savage: Right. But we are not federal officers. What can we do?
Ms. Cherry: Well, who mentioned that you could set yourself up for a lawsuit? I think
something should be done, I don't think you should just dismiss it, let's not even address
him. I don't believe that. But if that's how it's gonna go then that's how it's gonna go.
But, you can't say you didn't know. The Board can't say they didn't know and Sally
can't say she didn't know.
Mr. Savage: Right. Point well taken. Any other discussion on that issue? OK. Item #10
motion to adjourn.
No further business or questions, a motion for adjournment from Gary Savage and
seconded by Dewayne Dangerfield. Motion passed 3 -0. The meeting was adjourned at
3:20 pm.
11
