they have that right. Just like a person can say that a woman and a woman can get
married, you have the right to say it both ways.
Ms. Cherry: So you're saying you don't see anything wrong with a person putting on
their Facebook page I believe marriage should be between white and white and not black
and white.
Mr. Savage: If they put that on there then I have no problem with that.
Ms. Cherry: I do if you working around people that are gay. You cannot discriminate
just because ... I know that people have big issues with gay people. They don't mind you
discriminating against gay people. Don't discriminate against women. Some men and
women believe that a woman's place is at home not out at no job. Stay at home and take
care of your kids. But you cannot have those attitudes out there when you work with
women or whatever; it's not a good idea. It's not healthy. I mean yes your opinion is your
opinion but if you work in a j ob, government j ob, and you're dealing with people you
look down on, I don't think he should be putting that on Facebook about gay people
cause that's the same as putting something about black people. Or talk about women, or
handicap people.
Mr. Savage: I agree all of that crossed the line. But you went to another point. I believe
people have a right to express their views on, just like if a gay person came on TV and
say I think we should be able to get married, well I think a person should have the same
right to say the Bible say marriage is between a man and a woman. Why wouldn't you be
able to say that?
Ms. Cherry: Then why can't I say that I think black people should still be in slavery?
It's your opinion why shouldn't you be able to say it? It doesn't work that way. You work
a government job and you have attitude that you want to discriminate against people. If
he had her job he probably wouldn't hire a gay person. That's the problem that creates
when.... Discrimination is not acceptable against anybody. It's just not.
Mr. Savage: I think you cross the line when you bring other people in when you say,
I'm not gonna make a comment and say I believe that these two gay people shouldn't
have gotten married. I'm not gonna say that, but I will say that I believe that marriage is
between a man and a woman. I'm' not saying anything about gays.
Ms. Cherry: Are you in a position of authority?
Mr. Savage: No I'm saying in general. And I'm not gonna say that all white people
should work at Campbell Soup and not at KC. I'm not gonna go there, but I might say
that I know that black people have the right to work at the housing authority. You didn't
cross the line; you said black people have the right to work at the housing authority. You
didn't cross the line, you said you believe that...
Ms. Cherry: That's just common sense because I believe anybody has the right to work
at the housing authority that qualifies. I'm not saying black people should work there.
That's not what I was saying. I was saying that black people along with every other race
should be allowed to work at the Housing Authority.
X
