Item No. 10 memorandum TO: Mayor & City Council John Godwin, City Manager FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk SUBJECT: ACKNOWLEDGING RESULTS OF PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION AND DECLARING CANDIDATES FOR COUNCIL DISTRICTS 4, 5, &7 ELECTED TO OFFICE DATE: May 8, 2017 BACKGROUND: On February 13, 2017, by resolution number 2017 -007, City Council ordered the regular municipal election for the purpose of voters to elect Council Members from Districts 4, 5, and 7. STATUS OF ISSUE: On February 22, 2017, the City Clerk issued a certificate of unopposed candidates for Districts 4, 5 and 7 and February 27, 2017, by ordinance number 2017 -008, City Council declared Council Members for Districts 4, 5 and 7 elected to office. BUDGET: N/A RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution declaring Steven Clifford elected to serve as City Council Member for District 4; declaring Linda Su Knox elected to serve as City Council Member for District 5; and declaring Paula Martin Portugal to serve as City Council Member for District 7.
